Remember depth of discussion is related to how much they talk about one topic and breadth of discussion is how many topics are discussed. The judge has the ability to engage in active inquiry to increase the breadth and depth of topics at a hearing. At an initial hearing, there are many potentially applicable topics that should be discussed, such as visitation, child well-being, child safety, safety planning, relative resources, and paternity.
